Bharathi Academy students have achieved top results in the VCE Tamil examination of 2024. Kanika Puvaneswaran has been the top scorer in the examination, with a score of 47 (before scaling up). One in every three of our students scored over 40 (raw score). We are proud of our students and their teachers.

Top quality VCE program is offered at our following campuses: Berwick, Dandenong, East Burwood & South Morang. We have a strong team of qualified and experienced teachers who prepare students for the exam. Team teaching is a great strength at Bharathi Academy.

History:

Bharathi Academy has been offering a remarkably successful VCE LOTE program since 1997, when Tamil language was first introduced at the VCE level. The first VCE LOTE Tamil examination was held in the year 1998.

Bharathi Academy students have been consistently achieving top results in the VCE Tamil examinations. Our students have received Premier’s award for language.

New Study Design:

The new study design for LOTE Tamil kicked off in 2024. The first examination under the new study design will take place in 2025.

Clear understanding of the study design by the teachers as well as the students is fundamental to the success in the examination. Bharathi Academy has developed a ‘state of the art’ curriculum delivery plan and associated resources based on the new study design, so that the academic development of the students can be guaranteed. Teachers have received an in-depth professional development training which is also ongoing. All this work is carried out under the direct guidance and supervision of our Director / Principal Mr Mavai Nithianandan, who has experience and the passion in this area from the time Tamil was introduced as a VCE subject in 1997. In fact, Mr Nithianandan has been one of those from the community instrumental for the introduction of Tamil for VCE in the nineties.

Excellent results every year.

You need not be an ‘expert’ in Tamil to sit for VCE:

We strongly encourage students who are in the secondary school to consider joining our VCE program. Even if your Tamil is not strong, we will develop you and guide you to success. We invest a lot of time and attention on every student. We also nominate personal mentors. Contact us and make an appointment for an assessment.

What makes us proud

So many Australian born students who joined us at preschool age have excelled in their VCE Tamil exam. This is a regular feature every year.

Benefits:

For students who sit VCE Tamil, it is an achievement they can be proud of throughout their life time. Many of our students have earned top scores in VCE Tamil to the extent that it has been counted as one of the four main subjects for the calculation of their ATAR.

The Victorian government strongly encourages students to learn languages. About 5 points are added to the mean of the study score of every LOTE, including Tamil. Tamil is one of the VCE subjects scaled up every year, which gives a great advantage to our students.

Students can sit for Tamil when they are in year 10, 11 or 12.

Extra Help:

We take personal interest on every student. In addition to the regular weekend classes, we provide the following additional help every week, throughout the year.

Wednesdays: Past paper class
Fridays: Friday Extra
Sundays: Extra Oral Practice, after class
In addition: Regular specialist sessions with Thiru Thirunanthakumar (visiting from Sydney)
